The Symbian^3 powered Nokia C7, which was announced back in September at the Nokia World 2010 will finally get NFC (Near Field Communication) in early 2011 via Software Update. Nokia C7 comes with a 680 MHz processor, 8 megapixel camera, 8 GB internal memory, 3G Connectivity and much more.Near Field Communication or NFC, is a short-range high frequency wireless communication technology which enables the exchange of data between devices over about a 10 centimeter distance. Xavier Des Horts, the communications director of Nokia, recently said during an interview that NFC will be activated in the Nokia C7 via firmware update at the beginning of 2011.Nokia C7 will be able to perform applications such as pairing with a headset, playing games and storing coupons. Xavier Des Horts also said that the Finnish manufacturer is working on this technology for a long time and Nokia C7 is the 6th phone from Nokia with an NFC chip.

The Nokia 5800 has a firmware update again today (filtering) and the new version is v50.0.005. Note that you take some time before the new firmware is available in your area.
