Shipments of Nokia N8, E7, C7 and C6-01 running Symbian Anna are slated to begin in July. The existing devices can acquire the update by the end of August through a software download.Updating the handset to a refreshed OS ought to be a simple process and can be done with a PC or over-the-air from the software updater in the phone. The new OS will provide users with a group of new icons, a swifter web browser, enhanced touch input and maps. This make-over will strive to make the experience reliable and convenient.
The split screen view while entering input enables visibility of the message thread. The virtual portrait QWERTY will allow fast and one-handed typing. The web pages will get loaded at a faster pace and the refreshed version will ease navigation too.
Ovi Maps has been revamped with quick and easy search, new travel routes, including a check-in to Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare or local social networks. It also allows sharing of places through e-mail and SMS for non-Nokia phones.
Instant messaging with Microsoft Communicator Mobile will support enable various e-mail options for professionals. The software also allows intranet access for those who wish to know their company’s intranet network. Social client is touted to be enhanced with a feature to view status updates in the contact card, retweet and view the follower list in Twitter.

The Symbian^3 is still just a glint in our eyes, but that launch date is fast approaching and here’s a neat little accessory to keep up excitement for the platform: the Mobile TV Headset. You know how most phones use the cord of your earphones as an FM aerial? Well, this thing does the same, only with DVB-H teevee signals, piping them straight through into your USB-on-the-go-equipped Nokia handset. It comes with channel-changing, call-receiving, and volume controls, and will set you back €40 ($51) before taxes in Q4 of this year.

Damian Dinning, who is the Senoir Manager of the Solutions Planning division has reportedly confirmed that the Nokia N8Nokia N8 will have DivX playback and Gorilla glass.Damian confirmed in a tweet as a reply to an earlier question that the Nokia N8 will play most of the DivX videos out of the box. This means it plays DivX files without any additional 3rd party software3rd party software. By “most”, we are guessing videos supported will depend on the resolution, bit-ratebit-rate etc.In a reply to another question, he also confirmed the use of Gorilla glass for the touchscreen on the Nokia N8. Gorilla glass has been used on previous devices such as the Dell StreakDell Streak.
